Networks

The Department of Computer Science, faculty of Engineering announces a vacancy for a full time tenured or tenure-track position in the field of computer networks, starting October 1st 2009.

Candidates should have substantial and internationally recognized research expertise in the area of software for traditional computer networks (internet, intranet) as well as for new platforms (for instance sensor networks). This research includes network and transport protocols, typically realized within the operating system, and session and application protocols, typically realized within a middleware. Security of and within network software is an important field of research. There is also a growing interest in management aspects such as the management of software configurations and the generation and enforcement of policies.

The candidate will attract and lead national and international research projects. He/she should have demonstrable research and didactical experience in the domain of software for computer networks. The candidate is expected to take a leading role in attracting and guiding PhD students and to network with leading foreign institutions (inside/outside EU).

The candidate will teach courses on computer networks in the master programs of engineering (computer science), the master of informatics, the bachelor of engineering and/or the bachelor of informatics.

All candidates must have a PhD in Sciences or Applied Sciences. Initially candidates can teach in English. They must commit themselves to learning Dutch, so that they are able to teach in Dutch after a trial period.

NEC Laboratories America, a premier research facility of NEC Corporation, has multiple openings in the Systems Architecture Department in Princeton, NJ.
