IN IS RESEARCH PRODUCTIVITY AND IMPACT

Compared to research in other business disciplines, information systems (IS) research is relatively in its infancy. In the last decade, an increasing number of academic institutions have recognized IS as a discipline and have created IS depart-ments/groups. These developments introduced important changes to the demographics of IS researchers. The regional differences and top performers have changed considerably.

In this research, we analyze the development of IS research in the last decade with an emphasis on demographic changes. More specifically, we examine IS research productivity and impact, investigating changes in regional and institutional contributions and highlighting the top performers for both academic and non-academic institutions.
